The under-caverns sweat with magma and it burns the foliage although I am not concerned. I do anticipate the completion of the cave-in device for the more magma we lose to the caverns the longer it will be before our forges are again operational. TehKeen works and I inform him to hurry.

As he works I devise a system for delivering power to the pumps, as they are far away from the watermills. A lengthy tunnel will be carved downward through the ground for axles and it will require many tree logs but we have enough.

Through Sirocco's keyhole I observe him Concentrating. I follow the way his earlobes swing as he moves until Chariot cries for more wine and I give it to her.

8th Opal

Tyshalob has been acting strangely and I am not the only one to notice.

He locks himself in a workshop and makes sketches while muttering to himself. I choose note to disturb him for I fear his temper in such an instance.

11th Opal

The Device is completed and the breach is sealed once again. I move to pull the lever personally.

Gears whirr, and with a mighty rumbling the great piece of rock detaches from the cavern ceiling and thunders into the crevice below.

Nobody is killed and as the magma flow begins to trickle off I suspect that it works as intended. There is even no spillage of magma out into the forge walkway because of the Design. I commend myself on my expert handling of a crisis although we must still wait for the magma in the Hall of Heroes to dry before we can begin reparations.

18th Opal

Tyshalob scrounges the fortress for many days collecting a scattered assortment of goods and I fathom not the extent of his plans.

Eventually he begins work. He does not speak to anyone about his plans and he is not disturbed. I wait.

20th Opal

Excavation begins of a long tunnnel at the top of the magma pumps that will lead to a sizeable reservoir beneath the surface, near the gatehouse of Gemclod. The magmaduct leads just under the river and caution must be taken such that the river does not leak downwards, else there will be additional Incidents.

Meanwhile the axles beneath the earth turn vigorously but we are out of tree wood. It is not urgent at this time but once we kill more trees it will be finished.

22nd Opal

Tyshalob's work comes to fruition. It is an armour stand.

It is marvellous and not only because it depicts Cleanpeaked but historical scenes also. John Dough cannot estimate its value though he claims it has more worth than Cleanpeaked and I consider appropriate punishment.

25th Opal

The Great Hall expands though production of tables and chairs is slow. I ask Leperfish why and he says he mourns Enzer still although I note it has been long enough thus I believe him to be indolent.

28th Opal

As the month draws to a close I make preparations for the battle ahead. TehKeen mans his battle station and loads the ballista while John Dough stands by in the siege control room. The miners are told to channel out onto the surface, and make way for the greenskin horde. As the final month of my term commences, so too does its final battle.

Showed of my skills at "Selective Cave Collapse Theory" today. Maybe now SCIENCE TEAM can get some respect. Still want to keep it underground, though; at least until the Revolution is over.
