Ah, yes. This one. The first piece I wrote after the Gemclod Anthem. Upgraded to overseer theme after Pozzo's year ended because I didn't want two different songs about the same dwarf (don't correct me!). When Pozzo died the first time something went *click* - Pozzo's a drunk, the sheriff, and dead. I should write a wild west saloon style piece replete with honky-tonk piano! The notion was inescapable, and the intro and tune just came right into my head there and then.
How could I not transcribe it when it's all right there, after all? It's a fun little piece, I really like it. If Tindeck's download counter's anything to go by, lots of others really liked it too because it's had the most hits of all of them.
This is how composition generally works for me anyway, I do about a third of my composing at an actual piano, and even less at the computer. Most of it is just thinking about what I want and then transcribing what I hear in my head into notation. I really love notation and transcribing. There's something very beautiful about a completed piece of sheet music (which is part of the reason I post the sheet music - I just like how it looks!).
