I've had to resort to carving journal entries onto random walls. There's no paper around here, I'm pretty sure the letters I see the other dwarves passing back and forth are written on bleached leather. Maybe it's elf leather, then they wouldn't need to bleach it. Maybe I could talk one of the leatherworkers to make me an Elfskine notebook....
This place was supposed to be cool but it's just as lame as anywhere else. There was some madman overseer who went nuts and killed a few people, and in checking out their engravings and statues (total sellout artists by the way, so lame) it seems like there have been a lot. That's such bullshit! Every fortress has all of these crazy overseers killing everyone. I heard of this one where this guy went nuts for those really big arrow things, whatever they're called. Killed everyone! They're still dying with the new guy too. This place is so mainstream. I mean, literally, they drowned. There's water everywhere.
What is it with these people? Sometimes I think I'm the only sane one must most of them seem kinda normal until they become overseers. Except for this one guy, Peppermint or something, he's nuts too. Apparently he killed some elf prince on a war unicorn just by looking at it.
I think I'm going to try to survive as long as I can, but like, ironically.

I'm really excited today - I just found out that Charlie72 has taken leadership of the fortress. This is truly a great day for Gemclod. Since SCIENCE TEAM is sure to be at least twice as rational as the crazed dwarf who's just finished some sort of addition to the swamp in fortress over our Mondul-damned heads, I'm confident a more science-oriented administration will be what this fortress needs to truly live up to its place as the last bastion of The Famous Palisade.

So apparently the team that gave us improved crossbow targeting hasn't realized that generally, one shouldn't subject levers to the trail-and-error of the scientific metho...
(archivist's note: the rest of the volume appears to have been irreparably damaged by water, perhaps related to the Vile Flood of 271)

Bicyclearms the fish dissector
Grey Hunter the stonecrafter
DarkHorse the fish cleaner

Many were reassigned to mining and masonry due to lack of need for their jobs.
